Golden retrievers do not need to be shaved in summer. The way golden retrievers dissipate heat is different from that of humans. They do not dissipate heat through the epidermis. The main heat dissipation areas are the tongue and soles of the feet.

Shaving Golden Retrievers does not help them stay cooler, and hair that is too short cannot effectively protect the epidermis, making Golden Retrievers more susceptible to skin diseases such as moss and dermatitis. In addition, there are many mosquitoes in summer, and golden retrievers are more likely to be bitten after shaving.

The temperature is high in summer, so you can avoid the heat in the following ways:

1. Drink more water: Be sure to give your dog plenty of clean drinking water in summer. You can add some Huoxiang Zhengqi water to the water your dog usually drinks to prevent heat stroke.

2. Appropriate use of electric fans, air conditioners and other equipment: In summer, you can turn on air conditioners or electric fans to protect your dog from the heat. This is the most common method and the effect is very good. However, the temperature of the air conditioner needs to be adjusted to above 28°C to prevent the dog from getting cold.

3. Cooling pad for dogs: Cooling pad for dogs, the dog lies on it, and the gel placed inside can help evaporate body heat.

4. Feed cooling and heat-relieving foods: such as pears and cabbage. Pears can clear away heat and remove internal heat, nourish yin and moisturize dryness. They have a very good effect on improving problems caused by summer heat.
