Chinchillas can eat grass outside. Grass is rich in fiber, which can promote gastrointestinal peristalsis and enhance digestive function of chinchillas. However, the grass outside must be clean and hygienic and from a clear source. Otherwise, chinchillas may suffer from food poisoning or parasite infection due to eating grass. . Chinchillas usually eat mainly grains, and can also be fed appropriate amounts of nut foods.

Precautions for feeding chinchillas:

1. Wash your hands carefully before touching chinchillas and their cages. Fungi contracted from human hands due to contact with coins or feet can easily cause chinchillas to become bald, and treatment is time-consuming and labor-intensive.
2. Don’t feed your chinchilla all kinds of food for granted. Just feed your chinchilla special dry food and hay.

3. Eat special chinchilla snacks, or peel and dice fresh apples, carrots, sand fruits or red fruits. For any snack, 1-2 pieces every other day is enough, don’t give too much.
