Can adult cats eat ice?

Adult cats cannot eat ice. Because ice is frozen food, the cat’s gastrointestinal tract is very fragile. Food that is too cold may irritate the cat’s gastrointestinal tract and cause diarrhea, and may easily cause the cat to suffer from gastroenteritis. In severe cases, the cat may have bloody stools or even die. Therefore, when feeding your cat, be sure to warm the ice food before feeding it.

What to do if a cat eats ice:

1. If the cat does not have diarrhea, it can be fed normally.

2. If the cat has mild diarrhea, you can first control the cat’s diet, feed small amounts with frequent meals, and use probiotics for conditioning.

3. If the cat has severe diarrhea, artificial oral rehydration salts or infusion are needed to adjust the cat’s water, electrolyte and acid-base balance.

4. If there are other symptoms, symptomatic treatment is required.
