Treatment principles for dog colds:

1. Antipyretic and anti-inflammatory: When the body temperature of a cold dog exceeds 40°C and has chills, antipyretic and analgesic drugs can be used. The more commonly used one is Diazepam, which is injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly with 0.5 to 2 ml depending on the size of the individual. Bupleurum injection can be used as traditional Chinese medicine, which has good curative effect. There is no need to inject antipyretic drugs for sick dogs whose body temperature does not rise much. For sick dogs with excessive runny nose, falling head and sneezing, about 0.5 ml (5 mg) of chlorpheniramine can be injected subcutaneously. For dogs with rough breath sounds, vesicular sounds, or severe coughing, 2 to 5 mg of dexamethasone can be injected intramuscularly.

2. Anti-complicated infection: Penicillin is the first choice, and other antibacterial drugs such as kanamycin, cephalosporin, ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, etc. can also be used. Severe cases should be treated with infusion. Penicillin, dexamethasone, and vitamin C can be added to 10% glucose solution for intravenous infusion.

What to do if a Samoyed catches a cold:

1. The owner should take the dog to the pet hospital in time and tell the doctor the dog’s current symptoms, the time of the cold, and the dog’s health status If there is any abnormality in the excrement, the doctor will check and treat it with medication, and the dog will be given medication on time.

2. You can use electric blankets, blankets and other items to keep your dog warm.

3. You can feed the dog some foods that are easy to digest and absorb and have high nutritional value to help the dog’s body recover.
