Cats with erect ears and folded ears may not necessarily develop the disease. There is a probability that cats with folded ears will develop genetic diseases, but they are not 100% likely to develop the disease. If a cat has the ear-folding gene, its bones will not be 100% normal, but there will be slight and severe differences. Whether a cat with folded ears will develop the disease is also related to the genes in its body. Homozygous cats with folded ears will have a higher chance of developing the disease, while heterozygous cats with folded ears will have a lower chance of developing the disease.

Symptoms of the disease in cats with folded ears

1. After a cat with folded ears becomes ill, its tail will become thicker due to bone hyperplasia, and its flexibility will decrease. It will not be able to swing and touch. It will be painful when touched.

2. The hind limbs will be shorter than the forelimbs and very stiff. The pain during flexion will cause it to sit in a human-like posture. At the same time, the joints and toes will also be deformed due to swelling of the joints.

3. The general abnormality of toenails is that the pads are thicker than normal cats, and the back paws are also abnormally thick. When the cat sits upright, the pillow meat of the back paws cannot touch the ground.
