Causes of cat tapeworms:

1. If the female cat has tapeworms, the nursing cat will be infected with tapeworm eggs through breast milk.

2. The intermediate host for cat tapeworm transmission is fleas. If a cat is infected with fleas, the fleas will transmit the tapeworm to the cat when sucking the cat's blood.

3. Cats may be indirectly infected with tapeworms if they come into contact with food bowls or water basins contaminated with tapeworm eggs, or if the owners come back with tapeworm eggs on their shoes.

Treatment of tapeworms in cats:

1. First, fast the mother and then administer 0.4 to 1.0 mg of arecoline methyl bromate/kg body weight at a time. The dosage is if Excessive size can cause vomiting and increased saliva secretion. Injection of atropine can control this side effect. It should be noted that use is prohibited for cats under 1 year old, and cats suffering from enteritis, poor heart function or circulatory disorders.

2. Give cats 5 mg/kg body weight of praziquantel once orally, which is effective against various tapeworms. This medicine has a wide safety range and few side effects. There is no need to fast before and after taking the medicine.

3. Administer albendazole 20 mg/kg body weight to cats intraperitoneally, which is effective against Echinococcus granulosus in cats.

4. Give the cat 70 mg/kg body weight of niclosamide orally once, but be careful to fast for 12 hours before taking the medicine.
