The reasons why cats don’t poop in the litter box:

1. They don’t like the litter box. If the litter box is too small, the cat will not be able to move in a space that is too small, which will make the cat feel oppressed and the cat will choose a place with a larger space to eliminate. Moreover, some cats value privacy and will find a hidden place to relieve themselves, and do not like to use open litter boxes.

2. It smells like other cats. Cats are very territorial, and if another cat leaves a smell in their litter box, they will most likely hate pooping in the litter box.

3. The cat litter box is too dirty. Cats love to be clean. Most cases of not pooping in the cat litter are because the litter box has not been cleaned for a long time and is too dirty. There is a lot of poop in it and the smell is very strong, so the cat will not go there.

4. Cats don’t like cat litter. Some cat litters may not feel good on the feet, or may have a pungent scent, which may cause cats to hate the litter and not excrete it in the litter.

5. The cat is taking revenge on its owner. When the owner does something that makes the cat angry, the cat will deliberately not go to the toilet in the litter box in order to retaliate against the owner for attracting the owner's attention.

6. The cat is sick. When a cat suffers from gastrointestinal diseases, it may be too late to defecate in the litter box, or when the cat is extremely uncomfortable, it may not have the strength to walk to the litter box to use the toilet.

7. The cat was frightened. When a cat feels scared, it will hide in a corner and be unwilling to go out, so it will find a hidden place nearby to urinate. Or when a cat is severely frightened, it may become incontinent.
