It is abnormal for dogs to leak urine while sleeping. Urinary incontinence is unconscious urination. It is common in middle-aged and elderly dogs, medium and large dogs, female dogs, neutered dogs, and obese dogs. Of course, some puppies also have urinary incontinence when they are excited. At this time, it is necessary to check the dog's urine output for urinary incontinence, as well as the dog's bladder and other problems.

Causes of dogs leaking urine while sleeping:

1. Suffering from diseases. Urinary tract infections, urinary tract stones, urethral sphincter relaxation or kidney disease, etc., can cause dogs to inadvertently leak urine while sleeping.

2. The urinary system is immature. Puppies may have this situation. Because their urinary system is immature, they may suddenly urinate while sleeping.

3. Urine retention. Due to obstruction of the bladder neck, stenosis somewhere in the urethra, or neurological damage, a large amount of urine is retained in the bladder, making it very difficult to urinate and often without dripping.

4. Structural deformity. Some congenital structural malformations, such as bladder exstrophy, open urachus, or ectopic opening of the ureter in the bladder neck, may cause structural urinary incontinence.

5. Bladder storage dysfunction. When the bladder loses its normal function of storing urine, or when the bladder contracts excessively, small amounts of urine will leak out frequently.
