When do kittens get their first dose of vaccine?
The first dose of vaccine for kittens is given when they are nine weeks old, which is a little over 2 months old. The cat vaccine is given too early, and the antibodies obtained from the mother have not disappeared, so the vaccine has no effect. If the vaccine is administered too late, the cat may be infected with the disease, so it is best to vaccinate the cat after 2 months.
How to vaccinate cats:
1. Generally speaking, 3 shots of cat triplex and 1 shot of rabies are required in the first year. It is recommended that cats receive the first dose of Feline Triplex when they are two months old, the second dose when they are three months old, and the third dose when they are four months old.
2. After the three-shot vaccine is completed, an antibody test can be performed on it three weeks later to determine whether the antibodies have reached the required level after the three-shot vaccination. If reached, rabies vaccination can be given.
3. From the second year onwards, the immune system will be strengthened, with one injection each of the triple vaccine and rabies vaccine.
