Puppies cannot be weaned for twenty days. Twenty-day-old puppies are not the best time to wean. At this time, puppies have just begun to grow deciduous teeth, their organ functions are not yet complete, and their ability to eat independently is very weak. Eating other things is prone to diarrhea. 30-50 days after the puppy is born is the weaning period, and the puppy mainly lives on breast milk for the first 30 days.

Methods for weaning puppies:

1. Wean in batches. According to the development and use of the puppies, weaning is done in batches. The well-developed puppies are weaned first, and the weak puppies are weaned later.

2. Reduce the number of feedings. Gradually reduce the frequency of breastfeeding. Separate the mother dog and puppies a few days before weaning. After a period of time, put them together again, and then separate them after the puppies have eaten milk.

3. Weaning in stages. Add dog food and other food after the puppy is 3 weeks old, and gradually reduce the frequency of breast milk feeding. It can be safely weaned after 45 days.

4. Imitate eating. When the puppy reaches 40 days old, the mother dog can be fed in front of the puppy, so that the puppy has the opportunity to come into contact with food and learn to eat a little bit from the mother dog.
