Pet owners may think that having both a dog and a cat at home makes it difficult for them to live harmoniously together. But I love cats and dogs equally in my heart, and it’s hard to let go of them both. How great would it be if we kept the two together and let them live together peacefully? In fact, as long as we handle it properly, cats and dogs can completely coexist. Live in harmony.

1. When the cat first arrives at the new home, isolate the cat from the dog. (About a week)

The advantage of doing this is that it allows the cat to get familiar with the environment first, and you can't give too much stimulation to the new cat who comes to your home at once. A new environment and a dog that always chases it are enough to leave an indelible insecurity in its little heart, so it is better to take it step by step. At this time, the dog will know that there is a new member in the house, and will be very excited. He will always guard the door and ask to go in to have a look. Ignore him and let him slowly get used to the feeling of having a new member in the house. Let the cat out for a walk in each house every day when the dog goes for a walk, and then shut the cat back into its room before the dog comes back.

2. Let the dog enter the room with the cat for a period of time, and then pull it out. (Three or four days, varies depending on cats and dogs)

When letting a dog enter a room with a cat, it is best to put a collar on the dog so that you can control the dog's movements and stop it from chasing the cat. The dog will be quite excited to finally enter the room it has longed for. At this time, you need to grab its collar and prevent it from frantically looking for the cat in the house. At this time, the cat will hide in a corner. You slowly pull the dog closer and let the dog smell the cat's scent. Wait until the dog is no longer particularly excited, then let it go and let it move around freely in the house to get familiar with the smell of the cat. After a while, take the dog out. After three or four days, he will not be so excited when he returns to that room. Cats are also mentally prepared for having dogs in the house.

3. When there are people at home, open the door of the cat’s room and let the cat come out to move around freely.

Usually at this time, although the cat will still stay away from the dog, it will already take a walk in the house when the dog is not paying attention to it. Dogs will be very happy when they see a small animal in the house, and it is inevitable to chase cats. At this time, you have to stop it and let it know that chasing cats is something that will be criticized. In fact, cats are not as timid as we think. In the fight between cats and dogs, dogs usually do not have the upper hand, but cats are generally smaller than dogs, so we often think cats are weak. In fact, they are really not weak. Although they will be a little frightened when there are dogs at home, it will never hinder their eating, drinking and having fun.

4. Cats and dogs enter a state where they only chase and run occasionally.

You can't completely prevent dogs from chasing cats. As long as you allow this situation to happen occasionally without causing harm to each other, it can be said to be a success. The current situation in my house is like this. Most of the time, they live in peace, sleeping in their favorite places, or walking around the house. But sometimes the cat will have fun on its own and run around the house quickly, and the dog will chase it. But because cats are already quite familiar with the environment, they can always quickly find a hiding place out of reach of dogs. Then after a while, it comes out slowly, eating, drinking and playing. Sometimes they will compete for toys and delicious dried meat. At this time, the cat will usually look very scared and hide aside. In fact, it is not really scared. If the dog tries to push it, it will It's awesome. It seems that it is often heard that a cat scratches a dog's nose, but it is rare to hear that a dog bites a cat.

Don’t be hasty when it comes to getting dogs and cats to accept each other. You must proceed step by step. With a good start, feeding them at the same time will be more worry-free in the future.
