Don't shave long-haired cats in summer. Cats generally dissipate heat through the pads of their paws, tongues and other parts. Not only does shaving hair fail to achieve a cooling effect, but it may cause the cat's body temperature to rise. If a long-haired cat's hair is shaved, ultraviolet rays will directly hit its skin, which may cause the cat to suffer from skin diseases and even prevent it from growing hair.

Methods to cool down long-haired cats in summer:

1. Reduce going out. In extremely high and hot weather, do not take your cat out, and try to do so in the morning or evening.

2. Supplement nutrition. Try to increase the intake of antioxidant ingredients such as vitamin C and vitamin E in the diet, which can help cats resist heat stress.

3. Provide a comfortable environment. You can buy an ice pad or cooling pad for your long-haired cat in summer, and keep the room ventilated.

4. Drink plenty of water. Provide sufficient, fresh and clean drinking water at all times to ensure adequate drinking water.

5. Trim foot hair. Shaving your cat's feet in the summer can better help the cat dissipate heat.

6. Cool down electrical appliances. Electric fans, air conditioners and other equipment should be used appropriately, but the temperature of the air conditioner needs to be adjusted to above 28°C to prevent cats from catching cold.
