For those who are raising Akita dogs for the first time, before purchasing, it is best to visit the home of someone who has this dog to understand the dog’s appearance and habits, so that you can have a good idea when purchasing.

1. If conditions permit, you should also find some introductory information about the dog and study it carefully to further understand the dog's appearance and the characteristics of each part of the body to avoid mistakes when purchasing.

2. When selecting, you should first pay attention to the height and weight standards. If the dog is too big or too small, it may not be a purebred. Puppies that are not fully developed due to their insufficient age and are slightly smaller than the standard can also be considered.

3. The Akita dog’s skull is larger and is an inverted triangle with a wide top and narrow bottom. If the head is too small or the face is square, it does not meet the appearance standards of this dog and should not be selected.

4. Akita Inu’s ears are upright triangular ears, with the ear tips pointing upward and the ear sockets facing forward. If the ears are too large or droopy and do not match the appearance of the dog, it is not a suitable candidate.

5. This dog’s eyes are small, slightly triangular, and the eyes and eye rims are black. If the eyes are round, large, and light in color, they do not meet the appearance standards of this dog.

6. The nose is wider and the tip of the nose is larger and black. If the nose is long, slender and pointed, and the nose color is too light, it is also contrary to the face shape of the Akita dog and is not a suitable candidate.

7. The neck is thick and short, the muscles are plump and developed, the trunk is longer than the height, the chest is wide and thick, the rib cage is developed, and the ribs are expanded. If the above standards are contrary to the above standards, it is not an Akita dog.

8. The tail is set high and is large and plump, curled on the back or attached to the ribs. The tail hair is thick, straight and abundant. If the tail is upright, straight and sparsely hairy or drooping like a saber, it does not meet the requirements of the dog. Some morphological characteristics cannot be selected.

9. The coat should be double-layered, with the upper layer of hair slightly longer and thicker, and the lower layer of downy hair thicker and denser. The hair on the head, legs, and ears is shorter, the hair on the arms and shoulders is longer, and the hair on the tail is longer. If the length of each part of the hair is opposite to this, it does not look like an Akita dog and obviously cannot be purchased.

10. The coat color can be white, tiger striped or mottled, and white with brown patches is the most common. If the coat color is too different, it will not look like an Akita dog.

11. When selecting a transaction, you must ask the seller for various certificates such as the dog’s pedigree certificate and the transfer certificate signed by both parties.
