In the hot dog days of summer, many parents want to shave their pets. Although the dog's hair will be much fresher after being shaved, and the pet will feel cooler. In fact, it is also harmful to dogs. So, should we shave dogs?

After shaving all the hair on the body, will the dog no longer be afraid of the heat? In fact, it is not the case. The thick hair of the dog has three major benefits for it:

First, dogs mainly dissipate heat through their paws and tongue, and there are no sweat glands on the body surface. This is why dogs always stick out their big tongues in summer. If the hair is shaved, it will not be able to block the heat from the outside world, causing the dog's body temperature to rise and unable to maintain normal body temperature.

Second, dog hair is equivalent to our clothes and sunscreen. It can isolate direct contact with ultraviolet rays and prevent sunburn.

Third, without the protection of hair, just like your exposed skin, it is easy to be persecuted by mosquitoes in summer when there are many mosquitoes, leading to skin diseases.

So, dogs that are shaved will not only not be able to prevent heatstroke and cool down in summer, but will also be more vulnerable to injury. The skin is directly exposed to the air, and dogs are prone to skin diseases such as skin allergies and rashes due to the influence of dust, mosquitoes, etc. Sometimes I feel itchy, and if I scratch it with claws carrying bacteria, it will easily break the skin and cause some skin infections, which will be even more serious!

Most dogs, like people, understand beauty and ugliness, because after being shaved and looking at their new appearance, they may have a strong sense of inferiority and develop dog depression. He doesn't like to eat or drink, he doesn't want to go out for a walk, he even shows signs of aggression, and his temper becomes unpredictable.

Therefore, parents must pay attention. Shaving in summer is harmful and useless. Just trim the hair to an appropriate length, but don’t shave it all. Think about your baby, pets also like to be stinky!
