Kittens can cry. Kittens have relatively developed lacrimal glands and short lacrimal ducts. But usually kittens express their emotions mostly through barks or some body movements, and rarely cry. Therefore, if the kitten often sheds tears for no reason, it may not be because of sadness, but because of discomfort in its eyes.

Causes for kittens to shed tears:

1. Eyes are irritated. If the hair around the kitten's eyes is too long, it will easily get into the eyes, and the hair will stimulate the cat's eyes to shed tears. The owner should pay attention to trimming regularly.

2. The kitten gets angry. The cat's food has too high oil and salt content, too many additives, or the temperature is too high, etc., which can easily cause the cat to get angry and increase eye secretions

3. Nasolacrimal ducts are blocked. Many kittens are born with it, and it mostly occurs in purebred cats. The pipe structure of their nasolacrimal duct system is too bent, which can easily cause the nasolacrimal duct to become blocked and cause tears.
