Symptoms of amniotic fluid rupture in cats

1. If a cat’s amniotic fluid breaks, it will show symptoms such as vaginal fluid-like secretions, labor pains, and uterine contractions.

2. The female cat exhibits behaviors such as loss of appetite, restlessness, and frequent licking of the vagina, accompanied by rhythmic uterine contractions.

3. The female cat’s breathing rate increased, her tongue stretched out to breathe, and her first kitten was born within 2 hours.

Care for cats with ruptured amniotic fluid

1. Prepare some items for the cat to give birth as soon as possible, such as padding the cat’s nest with some soft cotton.

2. Add some nutrients to the cat appropriately, which can increase the cat’s energy during childbirth.

3. Do not visit the cat frequently, otherwise it will cause the cat to become emotionally nervous and affect normal delivery.

4. After the kitten is born, ligate the kitten’s umbilical cord and then disinfect it.

5. Prepare the paper and dry the amniotic fluid on the cat’s body, mouth and nasal cavity first.

6. If the female cat’s amniotic water has broken for more than 2 hours and the kittens have not been seen, she needs to be taken to the hospital for caesarean section treatment as soon as possible.
