When will a dog menstruate?
Dogs usually menstruate when they are 6-8 months old. This is a normal physiological phenomenon. All female mammals have menstrual cycles. Generally, female dogs will menstruate once or twice a year, mainly in winter and spring.
How to deal with menstruation in dogs
1. Clean your dog with warm water every day to avoid making the house dirty. After cleaning, the dog should be put on special physiological pants.
2. You can put an Elizabethan collar on your dog to prevent it from licking its butt.
3. Female dogs may lose their appetite during menstruation and become weaker. At this stage, the dog should eat more nutritious food.
4. The dog’s immunity will decrease during menstruation. Do not give it a bath at this stage, otherwise it is easy to catch a cold.
5. The dog will be more excited at this stage and needs to be taken out for more walks.
6. However, when you go out to play, you should avoid contact between dogs and male dogs to avoid climbing on them.
