Special attention should be paid to raising Chihuahuas in summer. The weather is hot and there are many bacteria and parasites. Therefore, Chihuahuas are prone to heat stroke or parasite infection and become sick. To ensure the health of your Chihuahua in summer, you should pay special attention to care. Regarding how to care, you can refer to the following:

First, whether you are raising a long-haired Chihuahua or a short-haired Chihuahua, you must insist on combing its back hair every day. Short-haired Chihuahuas are easy to groom, but long-haired Chihuahuas will take longer to groom.

Second, when combing your Chihuahua’s hair, you must pay attention to removing dust and dirt from the hair. At the same time, the hair that has fallen off but adheres to the dog's fur should also be cleaned thoroughly.

Third, we do not advocate frequent bathing of Chihuahuas, but it is necessary to bathe it in time. In summer, you can bathe your Chihuahua once every 7-10 days depending on its physical condition. Simply put, Chihuahuas often go out for exercise, so they can bathe more frequently. Note that especially long-haired Chihuahuas, it is easy for some dirt to stick to the hair. For this reason, it must be combed, bathed and cleaned in time.

Fourth, when preparing food for Chihuahuas in summer, it must be fresh and delicious. All food in summer is easy to perish and spoil, so before preparing food for Chihuahuas, you must first check whether the food is fresh. Food that is expired, rotten, or stale must not be given to Chihuahuas.

Fifth, in addition to a healthy diet, you must prepare enough drinking water for your Chihuahua every day. Likewise, drinking water should also be kept fresh. The water must be replaced in time, and the dog's water basin must be cleaned and disinfected in time to ensure that Chihuahua's drinking water is healthy.

We do not recommend shaving Chihuahuas in summer, but long-haired Chihuahuas can be trimmed appropriately. Note that most of the Chihuahua's sweat glands are concentrated on the soles of the feet, so the hair between the toenails must be trimmed in time to help the Chihuahua's body dissipate heat, avoid heat stroke, and ensure the health and safety of the Chihuahua.
