Characteristics of the leopard cat:

1. The dens of the leopard cat are mostly in tree holes, earth holes, under stones or in stone crevices. It is mainly ground-dwelling, but has strong climbing ability and can move freely in trees. Nocturnal, more active in the morning and evening. Live alone or in pairs. It is good at swimming and likes to move and forage near water such as ponds, creeks and rice fields. They mainly feed on rats, squirrels, flying squirrels, rabbits, frogs, lizards, snakes, small birds, insects, etc. They sometimes sneak into villages to steal chickens, ducks and other poultry.

The ocelot has a head and body length of 360-660 mm; a tail length of 200-370 mm; a hind foot length of 80-130 mm; an ear length of 35-55 mm; a total skull length of 75-96 mm; and a weight of 1.5 -5kg. Leopard cats are also called "money cats" in China because the spots on their bodies resemble Chinese copper coins. Similar in size to a domestic cat, but slimmer and with longer legs. The base color of the fur of the southern species is light brown or light yellow, while the base color of the fur of the northern species is grayer with dark spots all over.
