When a cat suffers from a mammary gland tumor, it usually requires surgical removal, and it is recommended that the cat be neutered during the surgery. It is usually recommended that cats be neutered after six to eight months of age. Neutering can reduce the chance of disease in the cat’s reproductive system to a certain extent. Breast tumors in cats are usually benign. Owners can take sick cats to the hospital for tumor biopsies to determine their nature.

Symptoms of breast cancer in female cats:

1. Whole body fever.

2. Loss of appetite.

3. Mental depression.

4. Pimple-like particles will appear on the cat’s abdomen (especially around the breasts).

5. This kind of particles will not disappear within a week or two. The number of particles will increase and the particles will become larger.

6. Heat around the nipple accompanied by pain.

7. There is reddish-brown discharge from the nipple.

8. Breast hardness increases.

9. The milk flows out in a fluffy or watery state.

Treatment methods for cat breast cancer:

1. Surgery

This is the most commonly used method to treat breast cancer in cats. Surgery can remove all or part of the breast and some underarm lymph nodes.

Advantages: It can treat breast cancer with maximum effect; if the surgery is performed before the breast cancer ruptures, it will reduce the burden on the cat and the cat.

Disadvantages: Removing part of the mammary gland will increase the possibility of breast cancer metastasis. Removing all the mammary glands will make the cat very painful. It is difficult to remove breast cancer tumors and the chance of recurrence is high; general anesthesia is not effective. It is beneficial to the cat's health; if the breast cancer has metastasized throughout the body, surgery will have no effect.

2. Radiotherapy

Use X-rays to irradiate the part of the cat's breast cancer to delay the growth or disappear of the cancer cells.

Advantages: Cancer cells are not very resistant to radiation, which reduces damage to healthy cells.

Disadvantages: General anesthesia is not good for the cat’s health; it has a negative impact on the heart, lungs, bones, spinal cord and other parts of the body. It is expensive and may cause breast cancer tumors to become larger.

3. Chemotherapy

Although using anti-cancer agents for cats has the advantage of killing breast cancer cells, it also has some disadvantages: it will cause side effects to cats and has little effect. May shorten your cat's lifespan.

4. Cell therapy

Cell therapy refers to artificially cultivating cat cells to increase the cat’s self-repair function and improve the cat’s immunity, so as to delay the development of breast cancer. onset.

Advantages: Can be used together with other breast cancer treatment surgeries; improving the cat’s immunity can increase the effectiveness of other breast cancer treatment surgeries and reduce the physical burden on the cat.It is small, reduces the side effects caused by other breast cancer surgeries, has no side effects, and will not cause pain to cats.

Disadvantages: The process of treating breast cancer is slow, and it is usually supplemented by other treatment methods. The cost is relatively high each time. If you want to improve the effect, it will cost even more.
