Causes and solutions for a soft lump under a cat’s belly:

1. Cats suffer from hernia, which usually occurs in young cats because the cat has not yet developed a hernia. Fully developed. Commonly found in the umbilicus, groin (i.e. inner thigh), perineum and other locations in the abdomen. The prolapsed object can be pushed back initially. As cats grow up, some cats' hernia holes will heal, while others will get larger and harder. The owner needs to take the cat to the hospital for examination, and the diagnosis can be gradually confirmed by taking X-rays, B-ultrasound and puncture.

2. Caused by subcutaneous abscess or hematoma in cats. If the cat suffers blunt trauma, inflammatory secretions under the cat’s skin will increase, forming a soft subcutaneous abscess. If a cat suffers trauma that causes subcutaneous blood vessels to rupture, a hematoma can also form. If it is a subcutaneous abscess, the pus can be extracted and rinsed and anti-inflammatory with normal saline or metronidazole solution. Oral antibiotics can be used if necessary. If it is a subcutaneous hematoma, the oozing blood can be extracted first. If the oozing continues, measures to stop the bleeding will be required. If necessary, surgery will be required to suture the blood vessels.

3. Cats have a protocyst, which is a layer of loose skin and hair. It can store nutrients like a hump and protect internal organs and blood vessels.

4. It may also be that the cat is too fat, causing the cat’s belly to sag, and the cat needs to be urged to exercise more.

5. It may be caused by a tumor. If it is a tumor, it is generally hard to palpation and has no fluctuation. In this case, a biopsy is required to determine the nature of the tumor and remove it surgically.
