Newborn dogs need to drink breast milk or formula milk to obtain nutrients. If you are a dog mother, it is recommended to start feeding your dog 24 hours after the first full day.

The following are some guiding steps for feeding:

1. Prepare the bottle: Use a bottle or straw-type medicine bottle specially designed for puppies, clean and disinfect the bottle and heat it with warm water.

2. Prepare formula milk powder: Choose formula milk suitable for newborn puppies, add warm water according to the instructions and stir thoroughly to ensure that the milk temperature is appropriate and the milk is evenly mixed.

3. Feeding: Place the puppy in a comfortable and fixed position, gently raise its head, let it open its mouth, and place the feeding bottle or medicine bottle at an appropriate angle in the mouth. While doing this, slightly adjust the rhythm and speed of your dog’s chewing and swallowing.

4. Clean the pacifier and puppy: After each feeding, the bottle, pacifier, puppy's face, tail and other parts should be cleaned to avoid problems such as infection and diarrhea.

5. Regular feeding: Depending on the age and weight of the puppy, feeding is generally required every 2-4 hours to ensure that their nutritional needs are met and promote growth and development.

It should be noted that if the mother of the puppy is around, the mother should be allowed to breastfeed as much as possible, and artificial feeding should be used as an auxiliary method. In addition, do not let the puppy lie down flat when feeding to avoid milk flowing into the trachea and causing suffocation.
