The reasons why kittens like to suck quilts

1. They are separated from their mothers when they are too young. There is a school of scholars who believe this, based on Freud’s school of psychology. The concept is that cats separated from their mothers too early will cause them to retain the behavior of sucking sheets/cloths when they grow up.

2. It may be looking for milk. This kind of behavior is a good thing. It shows that the cat trusts the owner and the owner gives the cat a sense of security. Only in this way will the cat look for milk.

3. In order to leave its own scent, cats distinguish between safe and familiar people based on smell.

4. Maybe it regards the quilt as its mother. Many cats love to lick the quilt when they are young.

5. It is a sign of relaxation. Just like a baby sucking on a pillow, sucking on cloth will provide the cat with a sense of relaxation, security and comfort.

6. It shows that it trusts you. If your cat runs to sit on your feet and makes a gesture of sucking on the quilt, pants or clothing, it is telling you that it is interested in you. Absolute trust and its belief in your ability to protect it from any harm.

7. The cat is stressed and wants to relieve stress. This is a bit conflicting, but the cat may make sucking movements if it is too stressed or extremely relaxed.
