1. The importance of hound feeding: The hunting effect of hounds is not only determined by the breed and training of hounds, but also by the physical strength of hounds. The physical strength of a hound depends on its feeding and management. If the puppies are malnourished, their physical condition will be poor when they grow up. Hounds hunt for more than a hundred kilometers every day. Weak dogs cannot persist, and fat dogs are prone to fatigue. This shows how important the feeding tube of hounds is.

2. Hound feeding principles: Hounds are domesticated carnivores and require protein, fat, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins and water for nutrition. Most of these nutrients are contained in meat, fish, grains, bone meal and fresh vegetables. Therefore, , should be matched appropriately according to the age of the dog. Puppies and pregnant dogs should add some calcium. Fresh vegetables must be washed and chopped. The appropriate feeding temperature is around 25 degrees. It can be cooler in summer and hotter in winter, but do not feed too hot food or rotten food to avoid affecting the health of the hound. In winter, feed more fatty foods to increase heat energy and improve cold resistance.

3. Feeding and management of puppies: Puppies are weaned about 50 days after birth and fed independently. Newly weaned puppies should be fed milk and other easily digestible foods. Puppies between 2 and 4 months old should be fed nutritious food, as well as raw meat, raw fish, fresh vegetables and bone meal. But don’t feed too much every time. Feeding to the point of refusing to eat and being too full will cause indigestion in puppies and seriously affect their development. It is advisable to eat small and frequent meals. A fed puppy likes to sleep. If the hungry pup keeps crawling and barking softly, it should be fed at this time.

4. Feeding and management of hounds during non-hunting periods: Feed them some leftovers during non-hunting periods. But management is very important. Hunters should often take hounds for training hunting so that the hunting performance of hounds can be continuously consolidated and developed. If hunting activities are interrupted for a long time, the existing hunting performance of the hound will also deteriorate.

5. Feeding and management of hounds during the hunting season: During the hunting season, hounds run long distances and have a heavy workload every day. At this time, some concentrated feeds such as meat, wheat flour and grain foods should be fed to ensure the physical needs of the hounds.

There are two ways to feed hounds when hunting; (1) Feed the hound until it is about 50% full before hunting. After working in the hunting ground for a while, feed it some fresh meat from birds and animals. After continuing to work, feed it some more to keep it close. Master, always maintain strong hunting enthusiasm. (2) Another method is to feed the hounds some of the best quality food such as meat and wheat products before setting off until they are 70 to 80% full. After the hunting is over, feed them leftovers and fresh meat from birds and animals, and drink them. Clear water can make hounds energetic and responsive. But after a day of hunting, it is not advisable to feed the hounds too much when you return home. Hunters should not feed hounds excessive amounts of meat out of pleasure when hunting for a good harvest. Doing this frequently is detrimental to the health of the hounds.

During hunting, hunters should check the health of their hounds every day. Any injuries need to be treated, ticks need to be eliminated, the dog's hair needs to be washed after summer training, and the hair needs to be combed and removed during the shedding period to keep the dog's body clean.

6.Requirements for the kennel: The kennel should be located in a place with slightly higher terrain, no moisture, good ventilation, and moderate lighting. The ground soil should be firm and slightly sloped to avoid rainwater intrusion. Also avoid strong winds to prevent the hound from getting sick. The appropriate area of the shed should be 1 meter long, 1 meter wide and 90 centimeters high, with straw mats inside to keep out the cold.
