First of all, before grooming your Border Collie, you must understand which parts it likes and dislikes. All Border Collies have sensitive areas. When you touch these areas, be sure to comb them carefully and gently. Otherwise, it will get very angry and will not cooperate with you. Nowadays, there are many people raising Border Collies, and there are also many pet shops. Many people go to pet shops to have their Border Collies groomed. The following is an introduction to the grooming methods and precautions for Border Collies.

Border Collie grooming methods:

Method 1: Comb it carefully from beginning to end

The Border Collie has soft, thick double-layered hair, which requires owners to comb it regularly every day to make it clean and beautiful. Generally speaking, it is most appropriate to comb your hair once in the morning and evening. When combing hair, you need to choose the best comb. During the combing process, parents should pay special attention to combing carefully from beginning to end and not miss any detail.

Method 2: Proper pruning

Grooming can start from the head of the Border Collie, then the neck, chest, back, sides, limbs, soles, buttocks, and finally the tail. When combing, the movements should be gentle and soothing, and should not be pulled hard. Especially when encountering knotted hair, you should comb slowly from the tip of the hair to the root of the hair. If you are really combing in the south, you can use scissors to trim it appropriately. Do not cut it. You can pull it raw to avoid hurting the Border Collie and making it resist.

Method 3: The hair on the soles of the feet should also be trimmed thoroughly

In addition to daily grooming, parents should also bathe Border Collies regularly and make necessary grooming. After bathing, the Border Collie can be properly trimmed to remove excessively long and irregular hair. At the same time, the hair on the soles of the feet must also be trimmed thoroughly to prevent the long hair from causing the Border Collie to slip and fall while walking and running. The injury also makes the Border Collie's body tidy and complete, making it more beautiful and dynamic.

Method 4: Trim your dog’s nails

Border Collies should have their nails trimmed, their teeth brushed, and their ears checked for any signs of inflammation or bad odor, which are early warning signs for a visit to the veterinarian. Remember to groom your Border Collie thoroughly before bathing it. Once the knot becomes wet, it will become tighter and tighter until it becomes impossible to get it open and the only choice is to cut it off. Tangled coats can be very painful for Border Collies, especially if they become very tight.

Method 5: Bathe your dog in a tub or shower

Use a bathtub or shower to bathe your Border Collie. Border Collies don’t like to stand in dirty water and Border Collies like a water massage. Dogs, like people, don't like bathing in cold water. In addition, the Border Collie will be washed cleaner with warm water. Of course the water temperature should be about the same as room temperature or just slightlyHotter. If your Border Collie shivers while being washed, the water is too cold, and if it's panting, the water is too hot. Remember that Border Collies are prone to heat so watch these carefully. To use special shampoo, you can first dilute it with water in the basin and then use a towel or sponge to bathe the Border Collie. When you flush the ears, remember to protect the Border Collie's ears, and use a towel dipped in water to wash the dog's face, around the eyes, nose and mouth. Some people will soap the dog twice and rinse it with water twice. You will be surprised to find that there is still so much dirt left in the second wash.

Method 6: Dry with a low-temperature air dryer

Next apply conditioner if needed and rinse thoroughly. Otherwise, there will be a layer of mucous membrane on the Border Collie's fur, which will easily stick to dirt. You can dry your dog with a towel or blow dry with a low-temperature air dryer. Don't let your Border Collie outside until it's completely dry. Nothing collects dust more easily than wet fur. When the Border Collie is dry, it needs to be brushed again. Remember that it is best to let the Border Collie clean its intestines and stomach outside before bathing it. Of course, bathing should also be completed before feeding the Border Collie, and a lot of rewards should be used during the bath. Remember that your Border Collie's coat health comes from nourishment from within, which is to ensure that his coat is shiny and gorgeous from the inside out.
