Calico male cats have no reproductive ability. Because normal cats have eighteen pairs of autosomes and one pair of sex chromosomes, the genes that control tricolor are related to the sex chromosomes. Therefore, tricolor cats are mostly female cats. Tricolor may also appear in the case of genetic abnormalities. Male cats and calico male cats all suffer from Klinefelter syndrome and have two X chromosomes. The abnormality of the 23rd pair of chromosomes causes their genetic map to be XXY, which means that calico male cats are often incapable of reproduction.

What should tricolor cats pay attention to after giving birth to kittens:

1. After the kitten is born, the big cat will lick the amniotic fluid from the kitten very quickly. Clean and restore kitten's body temperature. If the older cat does not take these cares, the owner should use a towel to wipe off the amniotic fluid on the kitten, and ensure that the temperature of the delivery room is not lower than 25 degrees.

2. Prepare enough clean drinking water and food to prevent cats from lacking energy after giving birth to kittens and accidentally eating their own kittens.

3. You can stew some fish soup for the female cat to drink to avoid insufficient milk, which will threaten the life of the kitten. The fish soup is very nourishing and can promote lactation.

4. Keep the female cat in a quiet environment to avoid causing the cat to become anxious and frequently carry her babies, which may lead to death.
