Phenomena of dystocia in cats:

1. The female cat becomes nervous, shows a painful expression, keeps chirping, and moves abnormally from one room to another. Follow the master.

2. Some female cats do not take in food or take in very little food, and the frequency of urination increases. The frequency of urination is high but the urine volume is small. Restless, or constantly looking back at the abdomen, lying down, dirty red and fishy liquid flowing out from the vulva, contaminating the tail and hind limbs.

3. During clinical examination, body temperature, respiration, and pulse rate were normal. The fetus can be palpated on both sides of the female cat's abdominal wall. Insert sterilized fingers into the cat's vagina to check. You will feel looseness, edema or dryness. From the open cervix, you can feel the mouth, nose, forelimbs, buttocks and hindlimbs of the fetus. Sometimes the fetus has gushed into the vagina.

4. After the amniotic water breaks, the fetus will usually be delivered within 1-2 hours. If no fetus is delivered, it is considered dystocia.

Methods to deal with difficult labor:

1. If the fetus still cannot be delivered after injecting the visco-slippery agent, you can try special hooks and fingers to pull the fetus out.

2. As a rescue method for the fetus passing through the pelvis, you can insert your fingers into the rectum of the female cat and press the fetus out very carefully.

3. Before secondary uterine weakness occurs, use fingers to stimulate the front wall of the birth canal to enhance uterine contraction. This method can promote the delivery of the next fetus.
