British longhair cat midwifery methods:

1. Help pull out the fetus. If the kitten is half inside and half outside for more than 10 minutes, the fetus needs to be removed. First, put on thin sterilized medical gloves and lay the female cat horizontally, put your left hand on the cat's shoulder, hold the exposed part of the fetus with your right hand and gently push it into the pelvic cavity, then gently turn the fetus and pull it out. You must not pull the fetus directly, as this will cause the fetus to fracture, and even cause the death of British longhair kittens.

2. Assist in cutting the umbilical cord. Tie the umbilical cord with a thread 1.5-2 cm away from the long-haired cat's body and tie it with a knot. Then use scissors to cut 1 cm away from the tying line, and wipe the cut of the umbilical cord with alcohol. Put the kitten to the mother cat's mouth and let the mother cat lick the kitten's hair clean. The kitten will feed after a short rest.

3. Precautions when assisting in cutting the umbilical cord. The female cat will bite off the umbilical cord on its own. If the female cat gives birth to many children, the last kitten born may not have the umbilical cord bitten so perfectly, and the pet owner needs to help deal with the umbilical cord.

Methods for assisted delivery of dystocia in British long-haired cats:

1. Massage the abdomen. In the case of female cats with weak contractions and dystocia, use the palm of your hand to follow the frequency of the female cat's abdominal contractions and press the abdominal wall to encourage it to strengthen contractions and deliver the fetus.

2. Medicinal midwifery. When massage of the abdominal wall for more than 30 minutes does not result in weak contractions and dystocia, when a female cat with weak contractions gives birth to a fetus, posterior pituitary hormone and diethylstilbestrol are injected subcutaneously to promote the contraction of uterine smooth muscle.

3. Traction the fetus. If the fetus has been exposed for more than 5 minutes and still fails to deliver, the exposed part of the fetus should be gently moved into the pelvic cavity, and then the fetus should be gently rotated and pulled out.

4. Cesarean section. The physical condition of the female cat must be assessed before caesarean section surgery.
