Precautions for caring for male cats after sterilization:

1. Avoid strenuous exercise after surgery to avoid wound cracking. Try to put the cat in the cage so that the cat stays in the comfort zone to reduce the cat's nervousness.

2. Cats will vomit within three or four consecutive days after surgery. This is a normal reaction caused by the stimulation of the gastrointestinal tract by anesthetics. There is no need to go to the hospital. Use a plastic syringe to force-feed the cat at least 30ml of normal saline or oral rehydration salt every day. It can promote gastrointestinal motility and prevent postoperative intestinal obstruction.

3. The male cat will feel severe pain on the night after the operation. Go to the pharmacy to buy tramadol and feed the cat painkillers. Give the cat half a tablet every 6 hours for two consecutive days.

4. Do not force the cat to eat. If there is no other disease, it does not matter if the cat does not eat for several days. When its gastrointestinal function is weak, forced feeding can also cause vomiting. Cats have a strong ability to regulate themselves, and they will automatically look for food when their condition is better.

5. The male cat’s eyes will not close after receiving anesthesia, so before he wakes up, he should instill a few drops of chloramphenicol eye drops every 10 minutes to prevent the corneas from drying out.

6. Male cats usually do not need stitches or bandages after sterilization surgery, so strict attention should be paid to excessive licking of wounds after surgery to avoid infection.

7. It is best for the owner to stay with the male cat until all the anesthetics wear off. Many male cats urinate while unconscious, and if they are not discovered and cleaned in time, the wounds can easily become dirty.

8. Two to three days after the operation, if the male cat is found to have symptoms such as discharge from the wound or elevated body temperature, he should go to the hospital in time.

9. Avoid male cats coming into contact with the wound after surgery. The male cat is likely to scratch his testicles due to pain and itching. In severe cases, it may even cause infection and ulceration.

10. The owner should comfort the cat after surgery, because male cats will have more negative emotions, such as sadness, anger and negativity, and even alienate their companions.
