Precautions for kitten sterilization surgery

1. Do not allow the cat to eat or drink 8 hours before the operation, and keep it on an empty stomach. This will be effective. To avoid problems such as vomiting during surgery.

2. Nail clipping and bathing. Most cats will start to scratch the gauze on the wound on the second or third day after surgery. Repairing their nails in advance will make the gauze less likely to fall off. Give the cat a bath 2 days before the operation. Wash it with warm water. Dry it immediately after washing to avoid catching a cold. Cats cannot take baths for at least a month after surgery to avoid wound inflammation or colds due to reduced immunity.

3. Fasting and water fasting. Food should be fasted 10 hours before the operation and only water should be provided. Water should be fasted 4 hours before the operation. Because anesthesia will cause cats to vomit, if there is food, it will easily block the trachea and nasal cavity. It is recommended to arrange the surgery in the afternoon, so that the food bowl is removed after the cat has been fed dinner the day before, and the water bowl is removed on the morning of the surgery, which just meets the time requirements of fasting and water fasting, and the cat does not need to be hungry for too long. Don’t deprive your cat of water for too long, otherwise the cat’s various indicators will become abnormal.

4. Prepare two small blankets and a bottle of chloramphenicol eye drops. One blanket is placed in the box to make the cat lie more comfortably, and the other is used to wrap the cat who has not awakened from anesthesia after surgery. Prevent hypothermia. Eye drops are used because the cat's eyes cannot close after being anesthetized. The eyeballs will lose a lot of water when exposed to the air for a long time. In severe cases, the vitreous body may even be dented. Therefore, after the operation, the cat should be given eye drops from time to time until the cat regains consciousness.

5. Anti-inflammatory drugs. After the operation, cats need to be anti-inflammatory. At this time, they need to be given anti-inflammatory drugs to help the wound reduce inflammation quickly.

6. Warm items, changing mats, and warm mats should be laid in the flight box in advance, because the body temperature of cats that have been anesthetized will generally be relatively low and will recover after the effect of the drug wears off. Wearing pads are prepared because anesthetized cats are prone to incontinence.

7. Observe the cat’s wound after surgery. If there is a small amount of vermicelli or red secretion on the female cat’s vagina, it is normal and there is no need to worry. However, if there is too much, you need to Go to the hospital for examination; the male cat needs to check whether his balls have turned black or become more swollen. If so, he should go to the hospital for examination in time.
