Under normal circumstances, the expected delivery date of Himalayan cats is 60 to 62 days. Owners can keep records from the day the cat is bred. It is recommended that the owner perform a DR examination on the cat 45 days after the cat is pregnant, which can determine the number of kittens and determine whether dystocia may occur. Generally, cats may give birth prematurely when they are stressed. The fetuses born prematurely may be thin and have a weak cry. In the case of late delivery, the amniotic fluid of the fetus will easily rupture, and the fetus may suffocate and die. Therefore, the cat’s due date must be recorded in advance, and preparations must be made in advance for delivery.

Precautions for Himalayan cats after pregnancy:

1. Cats should not be vaccinated, dewormed or bathed during pregnancy, and cats should not always be scavenged out of curiosity. Touching the cat's belly can cause harm to the fetus and the mother cat. If you have a multi-cat household, it is recommended to isolate the pregnant cat from other cats.

2. Diet. Calories in the early stages of pregnancy should be increased slightly to allow the female cat's weight to increase steadily. The caloric requirement is about 100Kcal/kg/day. Do not supplement too much nutrition, as this will make the kitten bigger and easily cause dystocia for the mother.

3. Care. The pregnancy period of cats is about 63-66 days, but some may last as long as 71 days. Pay attention to whether there are signs of premature birth.

4. Expecting to give birth. Make an opening in the carton 10-15 cm from the bottom to facilitate the entry and exit of the female cat and prevent the kittens from falling out. It is also best to have a lid, which can be opened to take care of the kitten when necessary.
