The Birman cat was recognized by the United Kingdom in 1966, and the CFA recognized the breed in 1967. An ideal Birman cat should be medium to large, strong, with long, fine coat, but not as rich as a Persian cat. The coat color should be light, like a layer of golden yellow. The key colors are on the face, feet and tail, and the white glove marks on the four paws are unique to the Birman cat. The eyes should be round, large, and blue.

【Dietary taboos】

Diet of animal liver: Some cats love to eat animal liver and refuse to eat other foods. Animal livers contain large amounts of vitamin A, but excessive intake of vitamin A can lead to muscle stiffness, neck pain, bone and joint deformation, and liver disease.

High-fat foods: If your cat’s diet contains a large amount of high-fat fish or stale fatty meat, it will lead to insufficient intake of vitamin E, which will in turn cause the cat’s body fat to become inflamed and cause extreme pain.

Raw fish: Some raw fish contain enzymes that can destroy vitamin B1. Vitamin B1 deficiency can cause neurological diseases in cats, which can be fatal in severe cases. This enzyme can be destroyed by heating, so the fish must be cooked. Feed the cat again.

Meat: Although cats’ diet should be based on meat, if you only feed cats meat food, it will lead to uneven intake of minerals and vitamins, which will lead to serious bone metabolism disorders.

Dog food: The nutrients in dog food and cat food are not the same, and the nutrients in dog food cannot meet the needs of cats. Although cats and dogs are both carnivores, dogs have less nutritional needs than cats.

Cod liver oil: Be especially cautious when supplementing cats with extra vitamins and minerals. Excessive consumption of cod liver oil can lead to excessive intake of vitamin A and vitamin D, which can lead to bone diseases.

【Daily Care】

1. Birman cat hair care

(1) We need to comb the Birman cat’s hair every day, especially during the shedding season, at least twice a day.

(2) Carry out thorough care for the pet cat's hair once a week, using hair cleaner.

(3) If you care for it as described above, the number of baths can be reduced to 2 times a month in summer and 1 time a month in winter. It's ok to use some conditioner on it occasionally. Note: The bath water should be warm; the cleaning agent should be used specifically for pet cats; and the hair should be dried as soon as possible after washing.

2. Eye and ear care

(1) Always check and clean the Birman cat’s eyes, and regularly put antibiotic-containing eye drops into it.Potion. Best done after nursing and bathing.

(2) Clean the pet cat’s ears during weekly care, and drop ear cleaner directly into the pet cat’s ears.
