Are dogs born with rabies virus?
Dogs are not born with rabies virus. Rabies virus is mainly transmitted through saliva and blood. It cannot be carried congenitally and cannot be transmitted from mother to child. Only when the saliva or nerve tissue of a sick dog or other crazy animal comes into effective contact with a wound or mucous membrane can a dog have a chance of being infected with rabies. In fact, the vast majority of rabies is transmitted through bites from rabid animals.
Prevention methods for dog rabies:
1. Avoid sources of infection. When taking your dog out, try to avoid contact with other dogs to prevent being bitten by rabid dogs.
2. Get vaccinated regularly. Dogs must be vaccinated against rabies regularly and tested for rabies antibodies.
3. Seek medical attention promptly if bitten. If you are bitten by another dog, you should go to the pet hospital immediately to get vaccinated to avoid getting sick.
4. Enhance resistance. It is usually best to feed your dog some dog food with high protein content to help enhance the dog's physical fitness and resistance and prevent the dog from getting sick.
