The symptoms of coccidiosis in cats include jelly-like stools and occasional blood in the stools. The reasons why cats get coccidiosis:

1. Coccidia can be transmitted through infected meat, and the coccidia will not be killed under freezing conditions. Insects can only pass through high temperatures. From a cat’s perspective, it’s eating raw meat infected with coccidia.

2. Maternal transmission. If the mother cat has coccidia in her body, the baby cat will also be infected with coccidia within a few weeks after birth. Kittens suffering from coccidiosis are more serious, and the symptoms are also watery and bloody stools, and they may even stop eating and stop growing. If left untreated or if the condition is severe, cats can become dehydrated or even die.

3. Cats can also become infected when they eat animals infected with coccidia, such as infected mice.

4. The spread of coccidia begins with immature coccidia, called oocysts, which are excreted in the feces and then ingested by other organisms, causing infection.
