If you want to choose a Ragdoll cat with good appearance and pure blood, the owner needs to know a lot about this breed. So how should you choose a Ragdoll cat? What should you pay attention to when choosing? Let’s learn the relevant knowledge about choosing a Ragdoll cat with the editor!

How to choose a Ragdoll cat?

Overall: The ideal Ragdoll cat has a medium to large build, medium length hair, blue eyes, and body color. Point color patterns may be covered by a patch of white hair. The head forms a broad equilateral triangle, terminated by two slightly rounded whisker pads.

Head: Large and broad, but in proportion. A triangle with equal sides, which are the distance from the outside of the ear base to the slightly rounded beard pad. A flat plane forms between the ears. The cheeks are drawn together in a V-shape. Adult male cats can have cheek meat. When the beard and hair are pushed back smoothly with your hands, the bony structure of your face is revealed.

Ears: Cat’s ears should be clean and free of discharge. If your cat constantly scratches its ears or shakes its head, it may be infected with ear scabies.

Eyes: The eyes should be clear and bright, with no secretions at the corners of the eyes (except Persian and Himalayan cats), and the third eyelid should not be exposed at the corner of the eyes (the third eyelid appears first in many cats when the disease occurs).

Nose: The tip of the cat’s nose should feel cool and moist with the back of your hand, and there should be no nasal fluid or secretions around the nostrils.

Anus: It should be clean and free of diarrhea symptoms, and the surrounding hair should be clean and pollution-free.

Abdomen: The cat’s abdomen should be slightly round, and the ribs cannot be touched. If the cat’s abdomen is enlarged, it may be a symptom of roundworm infection or peritonitis.

Legs: Strong-boned, medium to long. The hind legs are longer than the front legs. The hair on the front legs is shorter, while the hair on the hind legs is longer, as if wearing full and flowing breeches.

Hair: The most obvious health indicator of a kitten is its hair. A healthy kitten's coat should be shiny, fluffy, and stand erect. If the kitten's hair is messy and dull, it means that the kitten has been infected with a disease, or has been ill and has just recovered. It is best not to choose such a cat. Check the undercoat for parasites or black bits of worm droppings.

Coat color: Ragdoll cats are bred into three colors

(1) Bi-color Ragdoll cat: The trunk is light color, the face, ears and tail are dark, and the chest, abdomen and limbs are white.

(2) Key color Ragdoll cats: The trunk color is lighter and the color points are darker.

(3) Fingerless glove-style Ragdoll cat: Like the key color Ragdoll cat, its chest, bust, lower jaw and front paws are white. The key colors of the coat include seal points, chocolate points, blue and light purple points.

Trunk: Large andLong, broad and strong, with strong bones. The body is rectangular in shape, with a full chest and shoulders and hips of equal width. The body is strong and muscular, not obese.

Body posture: Whether the cat’s tail is too short, and whether its tail, paws and back are deformed. Are the limbs too short? Observe whether the kitten is energetic, flexible and healthy.

Appearance: The hair on the face is shorter, the hair on the neck is slightly longer, the hair on the shoulders is shorter, and gradually becomes longer towards the tail. Unneutered adult cats may have shorter coats, and seasonal changes can also affect coat length.

Vaccines: Is there a pet manual or relevant information to prove that the five-in-one vaccine has been administered, and another dose of the five-in-one vaccine will be given 3-4 weeks later, and additional vaccinations will be given every three years thereafter.
