As the saying goes, "It's time for a man to get married, and for a woman to get married." Of course, dogs can also breed children when they reach the right age. The parents looked solemn. After all, their babies are the most beautiful, the most well-behaved, and the most sensible, and no ordinary person can appreciate them. Pigs, no, dogs, that have been raised for so many years, have to be very selective about their life events. Just like humans have their own criteria for selecting partners, dogs also have their own concepts of selection.

Selection of breeding objects/environment:

· Best age

Male dog - 24 months

Female dog - 18 months - 24 months

· Suitable time

During the 11-14 days of the female dog’s estrus period, to increase the breeding rate, you can do it again after an interval of 48 hours

· In line with the environment

Quiet, clean, and familiar environment for male dogs to avoid the influence of crowds (if the female dog is in a place that is familiar with it, it will be easy to become aggressive towards the male dog after she is more resistant to the climbing behavior)

· Product appearance selection

Don’t be too fat

It should not be too different from the female dog’s size

Before selecting a breeding partner, it is best to understand its health status. It is not recommended to mate dogs with infectious diseases, genetic history, or close relatives (close relatives). Especially dogs with infectious diseases will not only make the breeding partner infertile, but may even cause death. In addition, it is best for the target to be an experienced dog, which can make the mating behavior go more smoothly.

The breeding method can be selected according to the breeding conditions, level, and breeding purposes. There is free mating (putting selected male dogs into a certain number of female dogs, raising them in groups, and allowing them to mate, which can increase the success/conception rate) , assisted mating (adapted to first-mating male/female dogs), artificial insemination, etc.

Problems that may arise during the process:

· Sexual inhibition of male dogs (inability to have an erection/no sexual urge)

Insufficient nutrition/exercise, lack of sexual experience, frequent mating in a short period of time, rough/wrong management, incorrect semen collection operations (fear), pain, interference and other reasons can cause sexual inhibition and even lead to impotence.

· Lack of sexual experience

First-time female dogs, due to lack of sexual experience (especially since they have not been exposed to male dogs since childhood), even if they have reached the estrus period, they will notIf you are unwilling to mate, you need the assistance of your parents at this time (grasp the collar with one hand and drag the lower abdomen with the other hand to help the male dog enter);

For first-time male dogs, because there is no experience, there will be problems such as crawling without an erection, no sexual activity at all, and the position is uncertain and requires many attempts. It is recommended that parents treat the male dog patiently and gently to avoid causing sexual suppression of the male dog.

· "Stuck" for a long time

Generally, after the male dog successfully enters, there will be a "stuck" phenomenon (the two glands on both sides of the penis will begin to swell in the vulva), which lasts for about 10-30 minutes (or longer). Wait for the male dog to swell for an hour. , separated naturally. If the dog is in pain, parents can patiently comfort it (petting, talking) to prevent the dog from twisting and struggling due to pain, which will intensify the pain.

Note: Do not try to interfere with human intervention, forcibly interrupting, it will cause infertility or even death of the dog! (Male dogs, penis injury, penile bone fracture; female dogs, vaginal smooth muscle strain, vulva injury, uterine suspensory ligament injury, uterine shedding .)

Causes of failed conception:

· Brucellosis (infectious disease, lethargy, swollen lymph nodes, difficulty walking, vaginal discharge/swollen testicles)

It will cause spontaneous abortion in pregnant female dogs and cause infertility in male and female dogs.

Other infectious diseases include: toxoplasmosis infection, subclinical uterine infection, systemic viral or protozoal infection, etc.

· Prostate problems (difficulty urinating/walking, drowsiness, bleeding from penis)

A relatively common disease in male dogs is the main cause of infertility, affecting the amount of ejaculation and the quality of sperm activity.

·Hormonal disorders

Hormonal imbalances in bitches can lead to persistent estrus, schizophrenia, and hypothyroidism, resulting in the inability to produce puppies.

· Frequent breeding

Frequent mating of male dogs in a short period of time will lead to a decrease in sperm quality.

· Lack of adequate pre-participation sexual stimulation

It leads to low ejaculation volume, poor sperm motility, and inability to achieve erection. You can let male/female dogs play and chase together for a period of time before mating. While improving the quality of sperm, it can also cause the release of luteinizing hormone and increase the concentration of testosterone in the blood.

Note: Thyroid insufficiency, hypercortisolism, herpes virus, ovarian insufficiency, chromosomal abnormalities, etc. may lead to inability to conceive successfully.

Note:

· Give the female dog and male dog time to get familiar with each other to avoid the female dog not getting used to it and refusing to mate

· Depending on the age and health of the female dog, it is more appropriate to have three litters every two years or one litter per year. However, too many births will have an impact on the female dog itself and the puppies. It is recommended that it be sterilized when she is in heat for the second time. , prevent the occurrence of diseases such as breast cancer and prolong life.

· Male dogs should not mate frequently (you can rest for 2-3 days after each mating), which will affect health and sperm quality. Dogs over 12 years old should not be bred

· It is not advisable to drink water or engage in strenuous exercise immediately after breeding

· Female dogs in virginity (first estrus) are not suitable for breeding. They are sexually mature but physically immature, resulting in stunted development and reduced fecundity

· It is recommended that bitches that have given birth should not mate after the age of 5, and bitches that have given birth should not give birth after the age of 7

· There is no menopause in female dogs, and older dogs also have a chance of pregnancy, but the pregnancy rate will decrease with age

· After mating, the female dog will still have blood flowing out in estrus until the end of estrus

During the mating process, try to soothe the dog's emotions and ensure that the dog is in a quiet and comfortable atmosphere. After successful breeding, do not allow the female dog to urinate within 30 minutes (you can prepare a small box for her to prevent her from urinating). Try to keep the sperm in the body for as long as possible to increase the pregnancy rate.
