When we have cats at home, you must clean the cat’s living environment. At the same time, you must also pay attention to the cat’s feeding situation, and be sure to feed the cat a regular and quantitative amount of food. So, what else do we need to pay special attention to before raising a cat?

1. Things to note when choosing a cat

1. Professionalism of breeders

Many individual breeders do not have very professional breeding knowledge (especially illegal breeders), which can easily cause the kittens they breed to be unable to avoid some genetic diseases.

2. Online selection is limited

The Internet is unlimited, but because there are certain particularities in selecting cats, and there are many inconvenient factors in long-distance transportation, it is a principle to choose cats that can be seen physically.

3. Carefully identify the species

The appearance of many purebred cats is very similar to that of Chinese domestic cats. If you are not a professional, it is difficult to distinguish the breed, such as Turkish Van cat, Ankara cat, Norwegian Forest cat, Maine Coon cat, etc. If there are varieties to consider, they should be carefully identified.

4. Misidentification due to similar appearance

Some purebred cat breeds are not visible when they are kittens. Cats that look similar when they are young may not be the breed they originally wanted when they grow up. So don’t choose a cat that’s just one month old because it’s cute.

5. Older cats

The health of kittens that are too young will be unstable. Some genetic diseases of purebred cats will not show up until 3 months later. Choosing an older cat will better protect the cat’s health.

6. Apply for bloodline certificate

After you fall in love with the cat you like, it is best to communicate with the breeder or owner multiple times. If you are worried about the cat’s pedigree, you can ask the other party to apply for a pedigree certificate for you.

2. Prepare a list of supplies for raising a cat

1. Cat litter and cat litter box

Cat litter boxes and cat litter are equivalent to cat toilets, and there are many types of cat litter, with different scents, textures, and characteristics. Therefore, in addition to choosing a suitable type, you must also observe whether the cat likes it!

2. Fixed cat nest

Giving the cat a fixed sleeping space of its own is very important for cultivating the cat’s sense of security. If you pursue quality and don’t want to spend too much money, you can DIY your own.

3. Cat bowl and tableware selection

When purchasing a cat bowl, please note that the opening size of the cat bowl is related to the breed of cat. Oriental cats, with their pointed faces, like food utensils with small openings and deep bowls; cats with round faces like British short-haired cats prefer utensils with large openings and shallow bowls.

4. Comb and nail file

Grooming is very important. The sooner a cat gets used to you combing it with a comb, the easier it will be to become a good cat who likes combing when it grows up. This way, when it becomes an adult and moults every year, it won't have to run around the house because you have to comb it.

5. Cat Climbing Frame Claw Grinding Board

With the cat climbing frame, it is easy for cats to develop the good habit of just sharpening their small claws on the cat climbing frame. You will find that even if you don’t force it, the cat will eventually find that it is full of sisal. The uprights of the rope are the best tools for sharpening claws.

6. The cat carries the cage when going out

When taking a cat out or to the hospital, use a cat bag instead of holding it. If you carry a cat out for a long time, the cat will feel uncomfortable. At the same time, you will also hurt the cat, which may make it afraid of being held by you. This may be the last thing you want to see.

7. Special bath products for pets

In winter, use a pet-specific shower gel at most once a month. The water temperature should be higher than your usual bath water temperature. Make sure it is not hot to your hands. Prepare a hair dryer and a dry towel. Don't bathe too frequently as this will disrupt your cat's own oil balance.

Before you raise a cat, you should carefully identify the breed. In particular, when choosing a cat, you must obtain a pedigree certificate. When raising a cat, you can prepare a cage for your cat. Remember to comb the cat every day. At the same time, you should also prepare a claw grinding board for the cat. This should also be paid special attention to.
