Female cats usually come into estrus early for the first time when they are four or five months old, but some cats will come into estrus later. The estrus period is usually 3 to 6 days. Female cats will go into estrus every two or three weeks, and each time will last for 3 to 6 days. The above is an approximate average, and there are differences. There are a few exceptions even during the mating season, but the cycles after estrus are similar. If a cat is not mated while in heat, the cat will return to heat soon, with an interval of about two to three weeks. If the cat is in estrus for a long time without mating, the period between estrus will be shortened, and it will appear as if the cat is in estrus non-stop.

Methods to relieve female cats from estrus:

1. Isolate from male cats. When a female cat is in heat, she will become even more excited when facing a male cat. Don't let her stay outside, as she may follow the footsteps of wild cats and run away from home. Be sure to close all windows and lock all doors, including pet screens. To keep her calm (and prevent her from getting pregnant), you'll need to keep her away from all male cats. If two unneutered cats stay in the same area, they will almost certainly mate. If she can see the male cat through a window, cover the window with curtains or cardboard.

2. Heating pad. Get something self-heating for your cat. For example, water-heated electric mattresses, electric carpets, and even more upscale cat nests that can adjust the temperature. Warmth can relieve the anxiety of a female cat in heat.

3. Catnip. Only use catnip if it calms your cat. Cats react very differently to catnip. Some cats will relax and calm down when eating catnip, but some cats will become energetic and crazy. If you don't know how your cat reacts to catnip, don't try this method. May be counterproductive. In addition, even if there is an effect, it is temporary and can usually be relieved for 1 to 2 hours.

4. Pheromones. Pheromones are synthetic cat pheromones that have a soothing and calming effect on cats. However, it can take several weeks for a cat to calm down, so this is not an instant solution. If you predict your cat is about to go into heat, you can use pheromones in the environment weeks in advance.

5. You can eat estrus-resistant powder to control and suppress female cats’ estrus. It should be taken continuously for 7-10 days, and it can be taken when the cat starts to go into estrus. There is no harm to cats if they eat forbidden love powder, but don’t eat it often.
