The reasons why kittens always shed tears:

1. The eyes are irritated. If some irritating gas or dust accidentally enters the eyes, it will cause the cat to shed tears.

2. Eye inflammation. If a cat’s eyes are inflamed, it will not only cause the cat to shed tears all the time, but the eye secretions will also increase, and redness and swelling may also occur.

3. Improper diet. If the food you eat contains too much salt, it will have a certain impact on your eyes and cause tears.

4. Respiratory tract infection. If the cat has a respiratory tract infection, or is suffering from feline nasal congestion and feline calicivirus, it will cause tears.

5. Excessive internal heat can also cause tears. If it is due to internal heat, yellow secretions may also appear in the corners of the eyes.

6. Caused by the common cold. If it is caused by a common cold, it will also be accompanied by symptoms such as runny nose and sneezing.

7. The eyes have trichiasis and shed tears. This cause usually causes tears in both eyes, and less likely in one eye with trichiasis.

8. Tearing caused by obstruction of the nasolacrimal duct. Some cats have congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction. Because the duct structure of the nasolacrimal duct system is too curved, such as our common Persian cats and other purebred short-faced cats. There are many acquired causes, such as nasolacrima, feline herpes virus, etc.

How to take care of your cat’s eyes in daily life:

1. Check the condition of your cat’s eyes frequently to avoid the occurrence of greater physical or psychological diseases.

2. Clean your cat’s eyes regularly. If you find any eye feces or foreign matter, use a medical cotton swab or a sterilized towel to wipe it off immediately.

3. Feed professional cat food. Many cats will still eat home-made food, but condiments will have a negative impact on the cat's liver and kidney function, and the cat's daily nutritional needs will not be balanced, which will indirectly lead to abnormal phenomena such as tearing. So it is best to eat professional cat food.
