Letting the dog wait in place is a very useful command. Sometimes danger is approaching. If the dog can understand the "don't move" or "stay" command, it may be able to save its life. Training steps:

Put the leash on your dog, and then choose a position you like, whether sitting or lying down.

Hold the leash to control the dog and give commands.

The owner does not need to move at the beginning, as long as the dog remains still, the dog will be rewarded with food immediately. If the dog moves after giving the command, take it back to its original position and start over.

After several successful attempts the owner can try to take a step back.

Note:

Strengthen the command by extending the waiting time and increasing the distance between the person and the dog. Don't make it too difficult at first.
