For dogs with sensitive hearing, it is very important to take good care of their ear canals, but the ears are often overlooked by owners. If the cleaning work is not done properly, many ear canal diseases can easily develop.

First, fix the dog’s head and ears, then turn the ears over, and pour the ear cleaning solution into the inside of the dog’s ear canal;

Knead the ears fully to shake out the liquid;

1. Ear mites

Ear mites, also known as ear scabies, are common parasites in the ears of cats and dogs. After infection, dogs will often scratch their ears with their paws due to itching. Contact with scabies mites' paws and then scratching other parts of the body can easily lead to infection in other parts of the body. Especially the hairy dogs with big ears, such as ancient shepherds, VIPs, cocker spaniels, etc. Ear mites are stubborn, require long-term treatment, and often recur.

 2. Fungi

Ear fungal infections in dogs and cats are often caused by moisture, carelessness in cleaning, and scratching of affected limbs. Symptoms such as ear canal thickening, redness, and dandruff usually occur. If such symptoms occur, you should first take your pet to the hospital for medical treatment. Under the guidance of a doctor, use medication to clean the pet according to the skin condition, and then apply antifungal ointment externally every day.

Constant scratching, hair loss, round scaly spots;

There is also no hair loss or dandruff but there are local papules, pustules or erythematous hair loss spots or nodules.

3. Ear hematoma

Auricular hematoma is swelling caused by subcutaneous bleeding of the ear shell. It is mainly characterized by the appearance of a solid, fluid-filled, fixed mass swelling on the concave surface of the ear. It can occur around the concave surface of the auricle and at any part of the concave surface of the auricle. It is especially common in dogs with large and droopy ears. Mostly caused by trauma. When the ear shell is itchy or has otitis externa, the dog scratches automatically and shakes its head frequently, causing subcutaneous bleeding of the ear shell. This is a common cause of ear hematoma. Ear shell bites can directly cause hematoma.

A soft, fluid-filled swelling in one or both ears that causes the earbuds to float like water balloons;

The size of the swelling will vary, and in some cases the swelling may be so large that the opening of the ear canal is blocked;

4. Ear canal inflammation

Dog’s ears are spiral-shaped. If not handled properly during bathing, water can easily enter and cause inflammation. After the dog's ears are filled with water, the dog's head will tilt to the side where the water entered. From time to time, he will scratch his ears with his paws or shake his head. After a long time, dark brown secretions will flow out.

When rinsing the dog’s head, first cover the ear hole with its auricle with one hand, and then rinse the water

It is not recommended to use dry cotton balls to plug the ear holes. Dry cotton ballsIt has strong water absorption capacity and can easily fill the ear hole with water, eventually leading to ear canal inflammation.
