Cats may like to chase their tails because they are bored and play with their tails as toys. The owner can choose to prepare some toys for the cats to play with. It may also be because the cats have fleas on their tails. External deworming is critical.

Why do cats chase their tails

Boring:

People who have just raised kittens sometimes find it strange that some kittens, especially those around 3 months old, always like to chase their tails around. Sometimes it lasts for dozens of minutes, and sometimes I fall to the ground, gasping for breath, and stand up again.

Owners should not think that the kitten has some mental problem or disease. When your kitten chases its tail, it means that it is bored. If you ignore it and let it continue to circle around, it may become a habit and regard circling as a kind of playful behavior. When it gets a little older, it may lose its balance while spinning around and get injured. Therefore, we must not ignore the kitten's spinning behavior or let it do it thinking it is fun.

Toys:

When you find a kitten chasing your tail, you can immediately find a toy for it to play with, or play with it yourself to distract its attention. If conditions permit, you can take the kitten out for a walk. When there is no one at home at work, leave a few extra small toys for the kitten to play with. Only in this way can the kitten's bad habit of chasing its own tail be gradually changed.

Flea:

Fleas like to bite or hide at the base of a cat's tail, so when there are fleas on a cat, the cat will lick or bite the base of the tail. Owners need to perform regular external deworming of cats, which can very well help the cats to avoid continuous tail chasing, and will not harm the cats' health.

Owners need to be aware that once they find their cat licking its butt or chasing its tail, it may be just a process of the cat grooming its hair. But if you feel that your cat is licking too frequently or severely, it may be a sign of disease, so take it to the doctor as soon as possible.
