Many families have two cats or multiple cats.

In some families, all cats may be able to get along harmoniously.

But in some families,

How to avoid or handle conflicts between two cats,

Maybe it has broken the hearts of thousands of "old mothers".

Today, let’s summarize some of the reasons for conflicts between two cats.

Two kittens who grew up together,

Especially the kittens in the same litter,

If we have been living together,

The probability of conflict between them in their future life together,

In fact, it is very small.

Because, kittens living together,

During the period of receiving socialization training, it was also completed together.

They are very familiar with each other.

Therefore, it is recommended that if you are a pet family,

I planned to raise two cats from the beginning,

Then it is better to place two kittens born in the same litter in the same cattery.

Cats surviving in the wild,

Since trauma should be avoided as much as possible,

Therefore, the battles between them are generally "bluffing",

When a fight actually breaks out, it is usually out of necessity.

This is also an instinct of self-preservation.

This instinct also extends to domestic cats that have been domesticated by humans for hundreds of years.

It boils down to a conflict between two cats,

There are no more than the following five categories:

Territorial dispute

The aggressive instinct of male cats

Defensive attack

Redirect attack

Play that looks like "attack"

 01 "Territorial" dispute

A cat occupies the space of another cat,

Occasionally, this type of attack occurs.

However, there is an interesting phenomenon here,

Some cats may be on edge against a cat that invades their territory.

But he was gentle to the other cat...

Territorial disputes lead toThe most common scenario of attack behavior is,

There is a new cat at home.

The original cat or several cats have established a friendly and balanced living environment,

A new cat will upset this balance.

Therefore, if it is not handled properly, disputes will be stirred up immediately.

According to an incompletely reliable data,

After at least half of the parents buy a new cat, they will not isolate the new cat, but directly let it come into contact with the indigenous people.

This can easily go wrong.

02 The aggressive instinct of male cats

This problem is more common in unneutered adult male cats.

The target of the attack is usually another male cat of the same adult age.

Sometimes female cats also compete for space, status in the group, and even competition for resources.

And the problem of fighting occurs,

Fights between female cats usually start with a confrontation and may last for a long time.

If it is not stopped in time,

It may end in a brutal battle.

Therefore, if there are multiple cats in a pet household, it is recommended that male cats must be neutered.

In breeding families, male cats should be kept in separate spaces.

 03 Defensive attack

Defensive aggression is generally a defensive posture that a cat assumes after feeling threatened by a cat or other factors.

Usually the whole body is crouched, with the tail on the ground and the ears close to the head.

Cat, a state of self-preservation.

Who? I’m shocked! Ah, myself, forget it...

 04 Redirect attack

This kind of attack behavior can explain any attack behavior that cannot be explained by the above three reasons.

Redirect attacks are actually very common.

But I don’t know why,

There is very little information on this kind of attack in China.

To understand it simply,

The meaning of redirection attack is:

The cat may have been stimulated or frightened at some point elsewhere.

But it was impossible to give immediate feedback at the time,

After a while, change theIn space, a clear attackable target appears,

This target will be hit inexplicably.

A few examples:

 1.

A cat A is sitting on the windowsill,

I saw another cat B jumping in from the courtyard,

A The cat may be very unhappy, but there is nothing you can do about it through the window.

If the cat C at home passes by the window sill at this time,

Then it is very likely that cat C will become the target of cat A’s attack.

 2.

Cats that live in groups in families,

Maybe a cat was bullied,

If you can't beat others, you can only admit defeat.

But after a while, he met a cat that he could bully.

It is very likely that the target of attack will be diverted.

Note that this situation in the second example is potentially contagious.

Like the Nomi domino effect,

Cats in the whole family will have no peace if they cause trouble.

 3.

The departure of a certain cat in the family group, changes in diet, thunder and rain, setting off firecrackers outside during the New Year, and other stress factors may lead to redirected attacks.

There are some countermeasures to redirect attacks, which I will share in tomorrow’s article.

05 Play that looks like “attack”

As a qualified cat owner, you must learn to distinguish between aggressive behavior and playful behavior.

There is a lot of aggressive play between kittens.

Sometimes if it’s just a kitten,

It may regard you as its playmate.
