The incubation period of feline plague is approximately 2 to 10 days. Acute cases show clinical symptoms after an incubation period of 2 to 7 days. The first ones to appear are fever, lethargy, poor energy, and anorexia. Vomiting usually occurs 1 to 2 days after fever, and diarrhea occurs slightly later, but diarrhea may not occur initially. Palpation of the abdomen reveals that the intestines are filled with gas and fluid, which may induce pain or even vomiting. It should be noted that the first stage is the golden period of treatment. If you take the cat to the hospital for treatment at this stage, unless the cat is in particularly poor health, it can basically be cured.

Treatment methods for feline distemper:

1. Feline distemper hyperimmune serum is very important. It is actually an antibody to the feline distemper virus, but you should pay attention to it. Try not to inject for more than three days in a row, as more may cause side effects.

2. Balance fluid replenishment and prevent acidosis. Infusion is the best treatment method. If the cat cannot be given infusion, you can feed it a mixture of 10% glucose injection and normal saline at regular intervals to help replenish energy and water.

3. Use antibiotics to prevent secondary infections. Commonly used antibiotics include gentamicin, and now there is also a new animal antibiotic called Pukansu.

4. Antivomiting. Metoclopramide injection is an excellent antiemetic and is important during treatment. It can be injected or taken orally.
