Methods to identify whether a Maine Coon cat is purebred:

1. Look at the head: the Maine Coon cat has a large and round head, high cheekbones, a long nose bridge, and a slight depression. The mouth is square and compact, the eyes are large and oval, and the eye colors include green, golden, copper, etc. The ears are large and tapered, the distance between the two ears is wide, and there are dense long feathers in the ears, which match the body hair.

2. Look at the body: Maine Coon cats have wild beauty characteristics. They have a majestic and burly physique. Male cats can weigh up to 7 kilograms, and female cats can weigh up to 5 kilograms. Their bodies are rectangular, with thick bones, well-developed muscles, and chest. Broad and thick. The tail is long and thin, with fluffy tail hair and dark spots.

3. Look at the limbs: Maine Coon cats are tall and strong, in proportion to their body length. The toes are large, round and covered with feathers.

4. Look at the coat: the body hair is long, soft, smooth and elastic. The coat on the tail and abdomen is the longest and drooping, the coat on the neck is long and fluffy, and the coat on the shoulders is the shortest. There are about 30 kinds of fur colors, among which red, tan, chocolate, and silver are the most common. Sometimes stripes or block spots are found. Among them, brown tabby cats with a warm atmosphere are the most popular.

5. Look at the coat: The Maine Coon cat’s coat can adapt to the four seasons. Head, shoulders and legs are bushy, silky and short. The back and flanks are longer, and the trousers are obviously hairy. Collared fur is preferred. The undercoat is soft and fine. The surface hair is smooth, waterproof, and slightly greasy.
