Generally, age can be judged by hair and color. Baby hamsters are very small and have soft and shiny hair. The hair of hamsters under 2 months old is lanugo. As the coat color becomes darker, the hamster's hair will become longer. Old hamsters will gradually become thinner, their hair will gradually become dull and lose their luster, they will often lose hair, and their movements will become slower. The ears of newborn rat pups are tightly closed and their eyes cannot be opened. Within 1 to 2 weeks, the ears of the young mice will open, and their eyes will slowly open after half a month. At around 3 weeks old, hamsters are miniature versions of their parents. Most hamsters are weaned at 3 to 4 weeks. If a hamster needs to breastfeed, it is not yet one month old.

Tip:

According to age, hamsters can be divided into juvenile hamsters (within 3 months), adult hamsters (3 months to 1.5 years old) and Elderly hamsters (over 1.5 years old). Under normal circumstances, the weaning period is from birth to 3 weeks of age, and the growth period is about 1 and a half months old. The period from 2 months to 4 months is puberty, and the period after that is the maturity period. When hamsters are in adolescence, they already have sexual and reproductive capabilities, but at this time the hamster's various body functions are not fully developed, so if you want to breed hamsters at home, you have to wait until 5-8 months. When the hamster is over 1 year old, it has entered middle-aged and old age. At this time, do not allow the hamster to reproduce. The diet structure also needs to be adjusted. The probability of various diseases in elderly rats increases, and owners need to pay more attention.
