In the field of animals, cats’ hearing is one of the best. It got to a point where they could hear the slightest peek of the mouse. Even in their dreams! It’s a matter of survival – because in the wild they would be easy prey for predators during nap time.

Recently, according to foreign media reports, a new study published by Louisiana State University in the United States in the journal "Feline Medicine and Surgery" pointed out that they studied the calming effect of various music on domestic cats under high anxiety conditions.

In the study, researchers from Louisiana State University in the United States randomly divided 20 cats into two groups. One group listened to music for 20 minutes randomly before the examination, and the other group did not listen to music.

Music includes "cat music" Scooter Bere's "Aria" and classical music Faure's "Elégie". "Cat music" mimics cats' purring and suckling sounds, which are typically two octaves higher than the human vocal range (55-200 Hz).

Before the experiment, there was no difference in the stress index of cats who listened to "cat music", classical music, and no music. After the experiment, the stress index of cats who listened to "cat music" was significantly reduced, while the stress index of cats who listened to classical music and those who did not listen to music did not change.

The researchers said that the results of our experiment show that listening to "cat music" can reduce cats' anxiety and make cats more adaptable to the environment so that veterinarians can perform physical examinations on them.
