A difficult problem that arises is to bathe your dog! What should you pay attention to when washing your dog in winter?

1. Water temperature

When the weather is cold, the water temperature for bathing your dog should be increased appropriately, but the hotter is not the better. Generally, it is best to control it at 35-38 degrees. Too hot can easily burn your dog’s skin, and too cold can make your dog catch a cold.

Pregnant dogs should pay special attention! Water temperature that is too high will cause severe hypoxia in the fetus and affect the unborn dog.

In winter, you can appropriately reduce the frequency of bathing your dog. Just wash it once every 2-3 weeks. Dogs with poor health and prone to colds should pay more attention.

In winter, dogs’ secretions will be less and they won’t be so “stinky”. Owners can reduce the number of baths as appropriate.

3. Key parts

The dog’s limbs, mouth, and butt are the parts that are more likely to get dirty, so owners should pay more attention to them.

You can use wet wipes to wipe the dog's mouth and wash its paws. For dogs whose buttocks are prone to sticky feces, the hair on their buttocks can be cut appropriately.

4. Post-bath care

After bathing, be sure to dry and blow dry in time, and comb and blow dry at the same time. The indoor temperature should not be too low to prevent the dog from freezing and catching a cold.

Dogs are prone to static electricity in winter, so you can prepare some special hair care agents for dogs. Don’t forget to trim the fur on the soles of your dog’s feet in winter!

5. Bathing is not recommended for dogs

Puppies, especially those that have not yet completed their immunization, are best not to rush into bathing. You can choose to wipe them with a warm wet towel or use dry cleaning products.

The same is true for elderly dogs. You can choose dry cleaning products. Frequent washing will increase the possibility of dogs getting sick.
