Hamster sawdust can be replaced every 1-2 weeks.

If the temperature is high in summer and the hamster urinates a lot, you can increase the frequency of replacing the sawdust appropriately, about once every 3-4 days.

It also needs to be decided based on the number of hamsters raised. If 3-4 hamsters are kept together, in this case, the sawdust needs to be replaced once a week to avoid becoming wet due to excessive urine absorption. The growth of bacteria affects the health of your hamster. Additionally, if you only have 1-2 hamsters, you may choose to replace the wood chips every two weeks.

When it’s cold, spread 3 to 5 centimeters of wood chips, and when it’s cooler in autumn, spread 1 to 2 centimeters. The purpose of replacing the wood chips is to keep the hamster cage clean and dry so that they can live in a comfortable environment.

Tip:

If the hamster has just given birth to a baby, do not replace the sawdust. No matter how smelly it is, you must persist until the baby has opened its eyes before partial removal. The ground must be replaced in batches, otherwise it will be dangerous to the baby, and the mother mouse will swallow the baby due to the change of environment.
