Border Collie’s personality traits:

Tenacious, docile, sharp, alert, sensitive, neither vicious nor shy, smart and easy to train , gentleness, loyalty, obedience and other characteristics. They are intelligent by nature, able to observe words and colors, and can accurately understand their master's instructions.

Appearance characteristics of the Border Collie:

1. Body shape: The Border Collie is a very well-proportioned, medium-sized dog with a robust appearance and height. Between 43-53 cm, females are slightly shorter than males. Adult weight is between 14-20 kg.

2. Head: The two eyes are widely spaced, medium in size, and the ears are also medium in size and erect or semi-erect. The tips of the ears point forward to the sides, and the ears are sensitive and flexible. The head is broad and the occipital bone does not protrude. The length of the head is equal to the length of the front face. The mandibular stoma is very well developed. The color from the nose to the forehead and around the mouth is white.

3. Neck: Appropriate length, strong and muscular, slightly arched, gradually broadening toward the shoulders.

4. Topline: flat, slightly arched behind the waist.

5. Body: Appearance is strong. The chest is deep and of moderate width, showing a huge chest volume. Chest reaches elbow deep. Ribs well sprung. The loin is moderately deep, well muscled, slightly arched, and not lifted upward. Gradually tilt your hips back.

6. Tail: low position, medium length, tailbone extending to hock. There is an upward vortex at the end. When concentrating on a task, the tail hangs low to maintain balance. When excited, the tail may be raised to the height of the back

7. Front and rear limbs: Viewed from the front, the bones of the forelimbs are well developed and parallel to each other. Viewed from the side, the ankle is slightly tilted. The angle between the shoulder blade and the upper arm is appropriate. The elbows are neither turned in nor turned out. The feet are compact and oval, with deep and strong pads, and the toes are moderately arched and compact. The hindquarters are broad and muscular, with a gentle slope to the tail. The thighs are long, broad, deep and muscular. Stifles are well angulated, hocks strong and set low. Viewed from the rear, the hindquarters are well boned, straight, parallel to each other and very slightly bovine. The feet are compact and oval, with deep and strong pads, and the toes are moderately arched and compact. Toenails are short and strong.

8. Coat: There are two types: coarse hair and short hair. Both types have a double coat that is soft, dense, and resistant to harsh weather conditions. Puppy hair is short, soft, thick, and waterproof. Converts into undercoat in adulthood. Coarse hair type: The hair is medium in length, flat in texture, slightly wavy, and the facial hair is short and smooth. The forelimbs are feathered. The hair on the hind ankles can be cut short. As age increases, the hair will gradually become very wavy, which is not a fault. Short-haired type: The hair on the whole body is very short, the forelimbs may be feathered, and the chest is full of hair.

9. Color: Border Collies come in many colors, with various styles and markings. The most common color is the black band ((or without) white ribs, white collar, white socks, white tail tip, with (or without) brown markings. Various body colors are allowed, with the exception of pure white.
